Sing Live Visit to Florence!
Following our hugely successful trips to Rome to sing in St Peter’s Basilica and Venice to sing in St Mark’s Basilica we are delighted to bring you details of our visit to Florence in Tuscany for 2011 and our opportunities to sing in Florence, Pisa and Assisi. Tuscany is known for its beautiful landscapes, its rich artistic legacy and vast influence on culture. It is regarded as the true birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, and has been home to some of the most influential people in the history of arts and science, such as Petrarch, Dante, Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo Galilei, Amerigo Vespucci and Puccini. The Uffizi and the Pitti Palace museums are in Florence. Tuscany also has a unique culinary tradition, and is famous for its wines (most famous of which are Chianti, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Morellino di Scansano and Brunello di Montalcino). So there’s plenty for us to do and see! Our intended itinerary is as follows:- Singing in a concert at Pisa Cathedral on Friday 25th March, singing in Santo Stefano al Ponte Vecchio in Florence on 26th March and in the Mass at San Francesco di Assisi Basilica on Sunday 27th March. There is also a two hour guided walking tour of Assisi included in the package. Due to the Liturgical Calendar we cannot confirm some things at this stage, so things may be re-scheduled. The concerts are scheduled to last an hour each and the Mass we envisage will be similar to Rome and Venice (likely to last fifty minutes, singing between four and six pieces of music), so we will take the music from the concert to sing in the Mass. We are offering different travel alternatives to enable as many people as possible to participate in this wonderful opportunity. The trip is open to our existing singers, new singers, families and friends.
